The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
The new appointee steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming unveiling last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this decision through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a distinct vision.
The president noted that the team is now reimagining the project with a revised vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.
This announcement echoes a comparable move taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your town hall - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I shared you all a update, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and talented creators we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It validated the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a sharper brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the feedback to mind and revamped the title with a refreshed goal - one that’s poised to deliver on its promise to our players.
Our confidence in this project strengthens every day. To advance the outstanding advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the latest Lead of 31st Union. After several months of discussions, he starts with us on next week.
Ben’s leadership and background in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having devoted the recent years developing and managing some of the most recognizable series in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in receiving Ben next week. We are all eager to keep witnessing the evolution of the game in the time to ahead.
David
